LINGERING SENTIMENTS FROM A WHIRLWIND YEAR

I used a new paint sprayer without reading the entirety of the instruction manual. I found myself unprepared and starting a project. There was a lot of this in 2022. Preparedness is something I remind my children to be conscious of before starting any task. There I sat in a really bad mood and projecting on my family because the project did not turn out as planned; simply because I was unprepared. I had managed to overthin the latex paint we were using in the paint sprayer, making it too runny. It was dripping out of the machine and all over my walls and floors. I actually told my husband I was planning on trashing the machine because I would never use it again. The thing is, I just needed to slow down and reread the instructions.

The first time we try anything, things are shaky. The only way to get better is to practice- as cliche as it sounds. The only way to master any craft is to keep troubleshooting until you figure it out. Thats where I’m at. I’m going to troubleshoot this year until I can figure things out. Throughout that process I’m committed to cooking more meals at home for and with my family, practicing gratitude and acceptance daily and teaching my children through love and connection over policy. A real estate deal would really (and I mean really) sweeten the deal but we’ve been working through some challenging factors within our market that are out of our control. Preparedness and the ability to troubleshoot is going to get us where we need to be.

The takeaway is that if you find yourself like me; unsure of the final destination but relentlessly navigating a path to somewhere; figure out where you want to be and not hypothetically either. Where does your mind go to rest? Where does your heart feel at home? Once you’ve established where you really want to be or the direction you’re moving- don’t let anyone or any circumstances stop you. Be fearless on the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire friends. Much love and blessing in 2023.

Love, Daley.
