Three out of my four children have birthdays between February and March- I call it birthday season. I’m always looking for ways to make their special day impactful but staying within the budget I created for that event.
When searching for a photo backdrop I found tons of birthday party inspiration, but the DIY garlands required cutting a plastic tablecloth into strips- which seemed like a lot more time required and necessary to complete a backdrop than I was willing to commit for this particular project. I improvised.
I measured the desired length of the backdrop first and cut a piece of string to the length that I needed. I then rolled crepe paper streamers up and down the length of my kitchen table until each roll of crepe paper ran out. Once the crepe paper streamers were laid flat, I threaded the precut string through the open loops within the crepe paper streamers and tied each length to the string. I added strips of foil curtain, a banner, balloons and glitter stars to incorporate a few fantasy unicorn elements; requested by my daughter. A complete DIY party garland can be completed for around $10 (5ftx5ft). The price will increase depending on what banners, balloons and embellishments you add to yours. I’ve included an Amazon supply list of all the items I used below with the exception of the balloons- they’re from Target.
